For the Louis Vuitton Fashion Eye collection, Helsinki-born photographer Osma Harvilahti visits Saint Tropez. Steering clear of jet-setters, he trains his lens on fragments of existence or the anonymous faces of locals, honing in on details that still tell of the town’s past as a simple fishing village. His photographs deliver a commentary on life in a place better known for its wealthy visiting celebrities than its residents. Osma Harvilahti captures everyday life in a colorful and abstract style. Influenced by his studies in the social sciences at the University of Helsinki, he likes to explore the sociology of fashion. Based in Paris, he has been commissioned by the likes of Sonia Rykiel, Issey Miyake, Nike and Hermès, and his photographs have appeared in Vogue Hommes and Apartamento, among other publications. Inspired by the House's travel heritage, the Louis Vuitton Fashion Eye collection evokes cities, regions or countries through the eyes of fashion photographers, from emerging talents to industry legends. Each title in the series features an extensive selection of large-format photographs, together with biographical information and an interview with the photographer or a critical essay. After Louis Vuitton City Guides and Travel Books, this third collection presents travel photography with a fashion perspective, as the chosen photographers all infuse their images of great cities, faraway places or dream destinations with their unique vision.
