Our Committed Journey
Last month, Louis Vuitton took part in the LIFE 360 Summit (LVMH Initiatives For The Environment) organized at UNESCO by Antoine Arnault (LVMH Image & Environment) and Hélène Valade (LVMH Environment), in the presence of Bernard Arnault (LVMH Chairman and CEO), Christophe Béchu (French Minister for Ecological Transition and Cohesion of the Territories), Virginijus Sinkevičius (European Commissioner for the Environment, Oceans and Fisheries), and numerous presidents of the Group's Maisons. It was an opportunity for Louis Vuitton to reaffirm its contribution to the fight against climate change, with a particular focus on responsible sourcing, decarbonized transport, and energy efficiency.
In 2021, Louis Vuitton received approval for its greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets from the Science Based Targets (SBTi) initiative. Our commitment, aligned with projections that limit global warming to 1.5°C maximum, aims for a 55% carbon footprint reduction by 2030 compared to 2018. In the following two years, two major milestones showcase our environmental performance, including increased energy independence through lower consumption and a greater use of renewable energies, as well as a 12% reduction in the carbon footprint* of a Louis Vuitton product in just three years. These advances, reinforced by a particular focus on raising team awareness around climate issues and demonstrating unprecedented internal mobilization, lead to concrete achievements, which pave our way towards a 55% reduction of CO2 emissions from energy consumption by 2030.
